Valentine's Day: Lots of pics!

We had so much fun on Saturday. We got up and fought the crowds at Denny's, and had a very good breakfast. It was so good! Then we went to Hastings, rented some movies, headed to Walmart for some goodies, and home we went. The girls wanted to go to the park so we got the dogs and spent a while at the park. Neil and I gave the dogs a bath, and played basketball with the girls before we finally headed in for supper and a movie. It was a good day, I just wish Lily had felt better.

I, of course, took some pictures.

I made the girls pose a couple of times,

and then left them alone,
and went to bother Neil and the dogs.

And I found out why Emma's jackets always comes home filthy. She told me she lays them on the sidewalk, but as soon as we got there, she jerked it off, and tossed it straight to the ground. She's such a kid!

Neil was in charge of the dogs so I could play with my camera. Chowder doesn't get the leash thing yet. He just goes, and when the leash jerks, he turns to see what we are doing to him. Of course he got filthy! His little sweater was covered in stickers.

When we got home, Neil and I bathed them, but they were filthy by the next day.

We let him wonder for a few minutes, then Neil went and got him. Neil was walking back with him, and Chowder wrapped himself around the slide. It was funny watching Neil chase him around. And I got pictures of it. Of course.

He was doing so good, but you can see him veering of here.

`Round...

...and `round...

...they go!

Here is Emma doing her Lollipop Kid act. So funny. She really has it down.

When we were cleaning potatoes for supper, we found a potato shaped like a heart! The girls were so excited, so Neil grabbed the camera and took pictures. You can see Lily starting to feel bad here. Poor girl!

We had a really good supper. Steak and potatoes! Yummy! The steak was perfect, Neil did a great job. I always dry them out and burn them. A cook, I am not!

Anyway, we had lots of fun that day. The girls had a ball playing at the park and playing basketball. And Neil and I did too!
I love family weekends!

And I had to get our picture. It was Valentine's and all.

I am very lucky to be married to this man!
I love you, Babe!

See this sad little girl? She's sick. She's been sick for 6!!! days! Poor thing. She put on the sad face when I took this picture.

Here's what was under the blanket. A lady is a lady no matter how sick she is! And no, that's not a bruise on her face. It's a Valentine's tattoo.

This was taken this morning. We had to take Emma to school, so I made her put on some yoga type pants and a sweatshirt to be comfy and warm. She was not happy! She wanted to wear her pink dress. I figured it was this one, so I told her, as soon as we get home she could change. We got home, and she flung off her yucky clothes, and put on her pink dress. So funny. You can still tell she doesn't feel good! Poor baby!

Lily started feeling bad on Saturday. She was doing good that morning, we went out to eat, got movies and came back home, went to the park, and just had a fun day. She just kept going down hill. But she was trying so hard to play. It took a while to see she was sick. She didn't complain about feeling bad. I finally stopped and looked at her and you could tell something was wrong. So, took her temperature, and sure enough she was hot.

Sunday, she and I stayed home from church, and I was checking her temp every 5 minutes making sure it was heading down. Monday, we kept her home, but she didn't have a temp until that night. Tuesday, she wakes up feeling good, goes to school, no temp until around 6:30 that night. Wednesday, wakes up acting grumpy, but no temp. Send her to school, she comes home around 1:00 with a temp. I finally gave up and took her to the doctor. She suspects she has the FLU!!! So, she is home until she doesn't have a fever for 24 hours. And if she still is running fever today, she has to go back to the doctor tomorrow. And guess what! She's running a tiny fever. UGH! But I'm hoping it's gone soon. She still looks like she doesn't feel good. But thankfully this isn't a flu that causes her to throw up or not eat or drink. She's getting plenty of fluids and getting tons of soup. And she plays a lot. That's what was getting me. One minute she was running a temp, the next she was running around playing with Emma. I'm not complaining, mind you, just confused. So, hopefully, we are on the home stretch of this, and she is much better by this weekend. My sweet nephew is turning 3! on Sunday, and the girls and I are going to his party. So, please pray Lily is much better soon. Hopefully, the next time I take her picture, she is bright eyed and bushy tailed!

Valentine's Parties!

Today was a short day at school. The girls got out at 1:00. They also had their Valentine parties. Me and another mom are room mothers for both classes, so it was really hectic, and people were really impatient. But the parties turned out really good. We just brought a few things, since at Christmas, we had tons of food. So, she brought cookies and cupcakes, and I brought Jello Jigglers and rice crispy treats. All the kids really seemed to have fun. I was able to take more pictures this time because we kept it low key.

We did Valentine cards for the girls' teachers last night. Neil helped Lily and I helped Emma. They did a really good job, and they had so much fun doing it. I got out my scrap booking stuff and let them have at it.

Here's Lily's card for Mrs. Sanchez.

Emma working hard on Ms. Pierce's card.

Here's Lily at her party. She loves being with her class!

And here's Emma at her party. Her class was wild. They are a very loud group. But they are so sweet.

And tomorrow is Valentine's Day. I am really looking forward to it. Neil and I decided several weeks ago, we would make a day of it with the girls. No babysitters, or anyone else. Just us four. I really am looking forward to it. We are gonna go out and eat, and go to the movies or something. It should be lots of fun. I really need a family day. After the craziness of this last week, I just want to close the world away and focus on the girls and Neil. So, I am really gonna have to quit procrastinating, and get the house straightened up. Maybe the girls will help.

Yeah right!

Wanna see...

...what happens when you give a basset...

a bath and put her in the dryer?

She shrinks!

Ok, we've been telling that joke since we brought home this little man.

This is Chowder. He is a miniature dachshund. He is a real sweety! He doesn't bark or bite. The only problem is, well, he is male. But we are gonna take care of that real soon! Especially because our female is being female right now.

Anyway, Neil brought Chowder home last night from work. So, the girls didn't get to see him until this morning. We called them into our room and asked them to let the dog out. Usually, Sasha sleeps in our room, she wasn't having that last night though. Anyway, Emma turned and saw him and just fell head over heels. And Lily is pretty fond of him, too. Which, anyone who really knows Lily, knows how big of a thing that is. The only dog she tolerates is Sasha, and, well, she has too. So, Neil and I were just so happy that she liked him.

You can see how long Chowder really is here. They were getting to know each other in this picture. See Lily give her hand to him?

And he came with that sweater. I think he looks so funny in it. It fits him up front, but it only goes about half way down his back. Well, at least his chest is warm. I'm gonna have to find him something more appropriate. And this little guy is suppose to love to chase tennis balls. So, hopefully after he gets over all the newness, he will be more interested in playing with toys. The girls have always wanted a pet to toss a ball for.

So, that's our new member of the family. He is so cute, and we can't wait for you to meet him. And Mom, we're having problems remembering he is Chowder. The girls keep calling him Sparky. Besides his shortness, and man is he short, he looks a lot like your Sparky.

We must really like short, long dogs! I will post pics of the two dogs together when I get a good one. I have some, but we had just gotten up and Neil looks rough. He was so tired, he worked late, so he didn't get much sleep last night.

Ok...

...so, I watched the half-time show. It was okay. "The Boss," Bruce Springsteen, I spelled it Springsting hee hee!, anyway, that guy preformed. I liked his music, so it was good. Oh, and did anyone see that commercial - "LMAO?" So funny! People were laughing their a-- off and taking it to the doctor to restitch it on. Yeah, I amuse easily.

So, Neil fed the kids. Yeah, we are getting the Parents of the Year Award. They had popcorn and Pepsi. We don't let them have coke in the afternoon anymore. But I guess we are still embracing the night, so we let them tonight. And they weren't too hungry. I think they are still getting over their stomach bug. So popcorn and Pepsi it was. And now they are in bed and playing their Nintendo DS's. Lily probably won't go out for awhile. That girl can't take naps anymore, or she won't go to sleep at her bedtime. Oh well.

Neil, wants me to watch the last few minutes of the game with him, so I'll sign off. Y'all have a good night!

I just have to say...

Shhh...don't tell my dad I said this okay? I have to get this off my chest. The Super Bowl is boring! I don't even care about the commercials. And half time? YAWN! Of course it hasn't happened yet, but it will. I believe the only half time show I liked was back in 1993 with Michael Jackson and his "Heal the World" song. Remember that? I do. I was 13. Of course, I'm smarter now. I don't care for the guy anymore. But that's the only show I remember. I just asked Neil what shows he liked best. And he said the only ones he remembered were Michael Jackson, awww...we are so much alike, and the Janet Jackson and Justin Timberlake show. Hmmm, I wonder why he remembers that one. I'm sure it's not because it was only 2 years ago. Probably more along the lines of boobs flying. Ok, it wasn't boobs, and they weren't flying. Just one boob and a "wardrobe malfunction." Ooops, my boob is under there. Duh! Anyway, I'm just glad it was fast enough my oldest missed it. But, unfortunately, not fast enough my husband and I missed it.

But, I have embraced the tradition. Well, I've embraced the tradition when Neil isn't working. So, we have the traditional "bowl" food. Wings, homemade thank you very much, chips, dip, popcorn, beverages. Yum. I guess I do like the Super Bowl. Oh, wait, no I don't. I'm just embracing it. And gaining weight because I've embraced it too much. Oh, well. We only live just once. Anyway, I made a cookie cake. Wanna see?

I told Neil, "OK, Dad, I know you are a guy and all. So, I put a football on it. But you are surrounded by girls, so I had to add on the flowers." He laughed pretty good at that one. And he loved it. We cut it when Lily woke up from her nap. Yeah, I don't know what that nap business was all about. They were very ready to have at it. So, Daddy cut it into "pizza slices."

I was sitting with Lily while she finished. And it was so funny what I saw her doing. She took a few bites of the cookie. And then she cleaned off the icing. She went for another piece, and cleaned off the icing. No eating it for appearence sakes this time. Then she started for another one, and I told her, just finish off Sister's icing and that's all. No more! (Emma didn't want hers.) So, she did, and she was happy. I told you we were embracing this Super Bowl thing!

And now, my loving husband is glued to the tv, saying "Watch this Babe! Boom!" , the girls are squishing me, asking "What's that say, Mommy?" And me? I want to take pictures, but my camera's battery has chosen this moment to need recharging. Can't complain, though, because I believe this is only the third time I've recharged it. Pretty good, huh?

I like to capture our little moments on "film." I look back over the last few years on my computer, and I love reliving the little moments. We went to Lubbock yesterday, and I would have taken pictures, but I thought the people in the movie theater would have been a little ticked. You know, because I would have had to use the flash. It was dark.

We went to see Madgascar 2 yesterday. It was SO good! We have the first one, and we love it, too. These shows make even Neil and I laugh out loud. It was really good. You should take your kids to see it. Or grandkids, or moms and dads. Or just go alone. Great movie. First, we went to Walmart and bought snacks. Then, we ate at Taco Villa, and then we went to the movies. My purse was heavy with snacks! Shh, don't tell anyone. Afterwards, we walked around Target for awhile, and decided to go spend less money at Walmart, and got Super Bowl goodies. It was lots of fun. I really wanted the girls to have fun yesterday. Well, everyday, but yesterday especially. Life is too short. Especially when you are surround by the ones you love. The girls had a ball. They were glued to the movie, and there were no potty breaks. It had to be a really great movie for that. Emma can NOT get through a whole movie without a break. Drives me crazy. But they were awesome.

Ok, it's getting late, and my kiddos need to eat before they go to bed. Where did the time go? So, have fun watching the Super Bowl. Because I know I'm the only one who won't be watching it. Well, me and Rhonda, who is only watching for the commercials. So, have fun! And goodnight. At least for now. I might get back on later.

Bye!
