12 Weeks!

Yesterday, the whole family loaded up and went with me to my doctor's appointment. We were excited to have Emma and Lily meet the baby via ultrasound. We showed up, I changed, and everyone came in to hear the heartbeat. Apparently, this little one likes to keep up hopping, because he/she did not want to be heard, so the kids and Neil went to the ultrasound room and waited for me to finish up. My doctor took me right in and took a look, and there was our little peanut. He just did a quick check, knowing I was scared, and then let the technician take over.

Thankfully, my doctor knew how the tech loved to talk, and wanted to reassure me that everything was ok. The tech walks in and says, oh thank goodness, they were out there prepping me, saying they couldn't find a heartbeat. Nice! Actually, he was really nice, and we did get an unexpected hour long look at our tiny, beautiful baby. This was suppose to be just a due date check, and heartbeat check, but he just kept talking, so we just kept looking. I would just lay there and stare only half listening to what he was saying.

The baby was so wiggly, kicking his/her legs, and Emma noticed that it looked like he/she was sucking his thumb. It was so sweet, and such an experience to share it was the girls. They thought it was very neat. I can't wait for the next ultrasound in about 8 weeks. The baby has changed so much in 4 weeks, I can't wait to show the girls how different it will be in 8. The technician said the baby looked beautiful, perfect. His words, not mine. :) And that my uterus looked smooth and round. He couldn't even tell where my csection was done. So that was wonderful. He said the baby is still very small. He couldn't count heart chambers or anything, but for what he could see, the baby looked wonderful. He said that the heartbeat was steady, and he was very active, so that was a good sign. He also said the baby was 3 inches if you stretched him out and measured from his head to his teeny tiny toes. Later in bed, I measured with my fingers and just melted. So tiny. It's amazing what God can do in such a teeny person.

So, that's how everything is going. I'm off my meds and feeling a lot better. Still very tired, but not as nauseous and hopefully, not as grumpy. Thankfully, it hasn't been as bad as the girls were. Evenings are about the only time I have a problem. But it is all so very worth it, and I can not wait to hold this little bundle in my arms!

And for your viewing pleasure, I'm happy to say that my video actually downloaded. So, here is just a few minutes of the baby.
